And Then We Were No More

Imagined in a near future, and loosely inspired by Franz Kafka's "The Penal Colony," a machine is developed to execute "without pain" in association with a utilitarian system that disposes of criminals deemed "beyond rehabilitation." A lawyer is summoned to represent an inmate so deemed.
